Michael J. Sigal, President
Michael Sigal’s vision of a collection agency designed to provide superior service and performance has come to fruition with California Business Bureau, Inc. It’s a vision that had its origins, oddly enough, only after Michael was approached nearly 40 years ago by the owner of a large collection agency.
The owner had noticed how diligently Michael was applying himself in his work in an industry unrelated to collections and was convinced Michael’s skills would benefit his own company. The owner of that company – Credit Research Corporation – obviously had a keen eye for talent. Within four years Michael had become vice president and collection manager of CRC, as well as one of its principal shareholders.
He had, as well, gained a wealth of experience involving the legal, client service, and various other aspects of the collection business. His varied skills and knowledge in collections, credit, and office management made him a key speaker and educator at many healthcare training courses and seminars. At the same time, he began to develop business relationships and friendships that greatly enhanced his success – while at the same time strengthening and contributing to his success as a collection and healthcare professional.
Quick to recognize the value of the offer that had been made to him years earlier, Michael took another bold move in March 1976. That’s when California Business Bureau, Inc. (CBB) was incorporated with him as president. He became the sole owner and stockholder of the corporation in 1979 and maintains a role that oversees all areas of the corporation. Guided by his expertise, motivation and support, CBB continues to experience tremendous growth while offering stability and loyalty to its clients and employees alike.
Michael continues as an active member of numerous industry boards and associations. He is a past chairman of the board of the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management and past president of the association’s Southern California chapter. He is also a past president of the Health Care Management Association and the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Association of Collectors.
As a service to clients and colleagues, he also participates in many seminars and lectures in an effort to enhance understanding of the key issues related to the credit/collection and healthcare industries. His TV appearances have included a role as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau on David Horowitz’ Consumer Buy Line. He also appeared on a cable show, Lifetime, which focused on how the daily operations of a collection agency affect the patients it deals with. He has also participated in radio talk shows, taking calls from the listening audience regarding the practices of collection agencies.
California Business Bureau, Inc.’s solid reputation in the healthcare/collection industry, reflected in its long success, is a direct tribute to the vision and effort of Michael J. Sigal.
